Vancouver has been hit by a heat wave lately, so when a cloudy day came around it was greatly appreciated. This is probably my favourite kind of weather because it makes photography easier! Although sunlight allows beautiful shots to be captured, it can be tricky depending on what kind of day it is. In an article that I read, I learned that noon and afternoon are the worst times for photography because the sun is at an angle where it casts too many unwanted shadows. The “golden hour” for photography is about an hour before sunset; that’s when the sun is low enough to create elongated shadows and not cause overexposure.

Last week I met up with Steven from Hand & Sew, a small leather company in Vancouver. Steven specializes in handmade leather goods using natural leathers and he was kind enough to offer me a few samples. The coolest part about his products is that not a single machine is used in the process – all is done by his hand and sewing. Leather is my all-time favourite material and I’m a big supporter of local designers, so I was really impressed and inspired by Steven’s work. This minimalist bifold wallet is one of the products he gave me.
This wallet is made with vegetable tanned leather, a sturdy natural leather that changes colour over time with regular wear. It is super lightweight and yet can hold 8-10 cards! This is an ideal casual wallet for guys who travel light and don’t have lots to carry.
