Weekends are usually my chance to dress down in shorts and tees, but that was not the case this past weekend as I had to look polished to attend a tour of the Rennie Art Gallery in Chinatown. My friend invited me to this event last minute and I was pretty excited because I have always been a fan of contemporary art. When viewing art, I try to come from a learner’s perspective. Although I’m not an artist myself, artwork is able to give me ideas for styling and photography – which I use on this blog! This is especially true in modern art pieces since they present artistic ways to view mundane aspects of everyday life.
The Rennie Collection is exhibited at the Wing Sang Building, the oldest building in Vancouver’s Chinatown. It is one of the largest collections of contemporary art in Canada and contains pieces from both established and emerging artists. Here are a few sights that really captivated me:
