Sailing : Blue Details + Delizioso Skincare Review

Although this long weekend’s weather started off a bit bleak, I wasn’t too bothered since I kicked it off by having brunch with my high school friend James who is visiting from Calgary. I really enjoyed catching up with him and chatting about things that have and have not changed over the years! I’ve been blessed with so many visitors in town in the past few months and I sure hope that more will come as my old friends find more flexibility in time.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to work with Delizioso Skincare and try some of their products. Delizioso is a skincare brand based in London, Ontario and they specialize in 100% natural and cruelty free products. Although this is my first time blogging about a skincare product, I do have experience in this field because I’ve followed careful skincare routines since my early teenage years when I had severe acne. Because my skin is especially oily during the summertime, I asked to sample Delizioso’s Lacuma Regenerating Serum and Dead Sea Mud Mask since they both combat oiliness.

The Dead Sea Mud Mask is made from kelp and mineral mud, which is why it has a thick and grainy texture. It is a powerful multi-use product because it cleanses, hydrates, detoxifies, and tightens the skin! This mask felt great on my face and it did not cause any stinging or irritations. Removing the mask was a bit difficult though, and the towel I used to wipe by face got stained by the product – I had to throw it in the washer to get it clean again. But asides from being hard to remove, my skin immediately felt firmer and fresher after using this mask. It’s definitely one of the more effective masks I’ve used and I’m happy to include it in my routine!

I was interested in the Lacuma Regenerating Serum because it claims to reduce acne scarring and also brighten your skin. Since I do have some acne scarring areas, I thought I’d give this product a try. This serum is very light and has a fresh floral scent to it. After massaging it onto my face, this product immediately absorbs into my skin and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I started using this product nightly, and a week later my skin did feel more rejuvenated! It is hard for me to distinguish how much my skin has brightened though, since it is the midst of summer and I spend a decent amount of time outdoors. Also I know that complexion takes time to brighten up, so it may take a few more weeks until results are more noticeable. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with where this serum is taking my skin and I will make note if I found any further improvements!

AMAZING OUTFIT! That should be placed right on the front page of a men’s fashion magazine. Love the style.

By the way, I find it very neat how you blog about skincare because guys rarely ever speak about that. You also seem to have perfect skin. If you don’t mind me asking, since you mentioned that you used to have “severe” acne – which is hard to believe … so how was it resolved? Did you use special skin care routines and formulations alone or did you ever resort to medications (Acutane, tetracycline meds)? I was curious because I’m a guy and I find it very hard to use skin care solutions alone. I did have to go on medications for some time during my teenage years. If you know of really good skincare products, please share and blog!

And now I might be going off topic, but do you find or know if certain foods can contribute to acne? I’m in my early 20s and still having trouble with acne. Thanks.

Looking forward to your future posts!
    Cheers.

Thanks for the kind words, Trevor!

During my teenage years I did have to go on Accutane to help resolve my acne. I also used an array of different products to help get my skin back on track, such as specific moisturizers and serums. The good news is that acne is really a phase and I get significantly less breakouts now than I did when I was 18. To break it down, I think that keeping your skin moisturized is key, because otherwise your pores are more likely to clog. This was my major problem when I lived in Calgary where the climate is dry!

In terms of food, avoid oily and spicy foods – I’ve been preached that forever. Drink lots of water too, it helps!

Thank you Sarah – it was quite a nice coincidence!

Finally, a product post from you! That mask looks really great. If you still have some scarring, you should look into pure vitamin-E oil. I use it on my face once or twice a week and it leaves my skin baby soft and I imagine it has various other properties.

Jocellyn thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look into it!

  • The pop of these shorts would have made my day! We must do lunch when I come to visit.

Haha thanks Edwina! You come up to Vancouver often?
