Vancouver is a pretty busy city this weekend since there are a whole lot of noteworthy events going on. From the Squamish Music Festival to the Lululemon Marathon, it seems that everyone in town is having some sort of a memorable weekend!
This season’s new wrapped shirt/jacket trend is the most practical trend that I’ve witnessed in a long time. It makes carrying your jacket easier while also giving off a cool sporty vibe. I also like how this method of styling opens up my wardrobe more. The last time I wrapped my jacket around my waist was probably a good fifteen years ago, so doing this again is a nice little nod to my childhood.
So while other Vancouverites were running a marathon and partying at concerts, I attended the Pokemon World Championships 2013 on behalf of the Vancity Buzz. Like wrapped jackets, Pokemon was also a huge part of my life as a kid. From the ages of 8 to 10, you would never find me without my Gameboy or some form of Pokemon merchandise in hand. It was really nice to relive this joyous piece of my childhood through this event. The cherry on top was that the Director of Game Freak actually showed up at the Opening Ceremony to give some previews of the upcoming Pokemon games! Actually a bit tempted to get a Gameboy again…although I’m no longer the great Pokemon Master I once was =).
