4 Fall 2013 Pantone Colors + Ways to Wear Them

Every season I refer to the Pantone Color Report to find out what colors are trending. This seasonal report gives me some insight in regards to what colors to focus on, what old pieces I should pull out again, and also what I can expect to see in stores. I personally wouldn’t force myself to like or buy Pantone colored pieces just because, but knowing current trends can make dressing up and blogging a more thoughtful and creatively challenging task.

For this Fall, we have a unisex colour palette as men and women share almost the exact same colours. As usual for this season, the Fall 2013 colour palette features mainly earthy and neutral tones with a few bolder colors. Here are 4 looks with Fall 2013 Pantone colours that I’ll be sporting this season:

Sitting at the midpoint between grey and green, Deep Lichen Green is one of the season’s most versatile colours. Even though this colour is very neutral, it’s not too bland because it has a sleek, military-inspired look to it. Because Deep Lichen Green is so versatile, I like buying outerwear and accessories in this colour since I’m sure to get lots of use out of it.

I’m wearing:

Frank & Oak Quilted Vest | Banana Republic Gingham Shirt | Diesel ‘Thavar’ Pants | Kenneth Cole Loafers | Vintage Ray-Ban Sunglasses | Banana Republic ‘Edward’ Bag

Blue always makes an appearance on seasonal Pantone palettes in one form or another. This season’s Mykonos blue is a favourite of mine because it’s a smart and bold color that has a slight whimsical appeal. Wearing this shade of blue is a great way to incorporate some color into your work attire.

I’m wearing:

Banana Republic Trench Coat | Banana Republic Luxe Polo | Asos Plaid Trousers | Banana Republic ‘Preston’ Loafers

It’s the second consecutive year that a shade of orange has been declared as a Fall Pantone color. Last year’s was Tangerine Tango, this year’s is the less vibrant Koi. This color reminds me of the best part of Fall when autumn leaves are scattered across the ground. It’s a warmer tone than any of the other Pantone colors, so I like using it to add a splash of color to a plain ensemble.

I’m wearing:

Topman Lux Mixed Media Jacket | Gap V-neck Tee | Gap ‘Lived-in’ Khakis (similar here) | Adidas ‘Superstar’ Sneakers | H&M Tweed Cap

Carafe is a rich shade of brown and is this season’s most sophisticated color. This is an excellent color of choice when you want to dress to impress during the Fall. My favourite brown-colored piece that I own is by far my Tweed Blazer – it’s a Fall essential that I highly recommend.

I’m wearing:

Gap Tweed Blazer (similar here) | Topman Smart Shirt | Banana Republic Vest | Topman Jeans | Office Loafers (from England)
