After Hours

The one item that I desired the most this Spring was a khaki mac jacket. Mac jackets have been on-trend as of late and I’ve been seeing various brands style this piece in more unconventional ways. I am drawn to this outerwear because it has the appeal of a trench coat but without the formality of a belt and a double-breasted closure.

Like all on-trend pieces, my search for this jacket did not go smoothly. The first batch of mac jackets that I came across were all either too stiff for wearing or not in the colour that I wanted – I knew that I specifically wanted this in a khaki. After months of searching, Topman eventually came out with this jacket and I bought without much hesitation. Unfortunately I’m in between sizes for this piece, but I ended up opting for the slightly bigger size so that I can layer underneath.

Although mac jackets were traditionally regarded as business-attire, recent magazines and runway shows have styled this piece in a more casual context. My key intention of owning this piece was to experiment with this new style. So, here I paired my mac jacket with a flannel shirt, jogger pants, Nike Roshe runs, and wayfarer sunglasses. This look was extremely comfortable to wear but the coat still creates an overall refined appeal.
