Growing up in Central Canada was the most profound experience of my life. These photos were shot in Lake Louise, the most beautiful place in Canada (if not the world). For most of my life I lived within an hour’s drive away from this heavenly scene. It’s a special place to both my family and I.

Lately I’ve enjoyed telling my friends and colleagues that I grew up in Alberta, the province where The Revenant was filmed. As the film accurately depicts, this area is beautiful but deadly cold. Shoveling snow off the driveway used to be my chore for eight months of the year and walking home from school in -20°C weather was never a surprise to me. My conclusion is: what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

  • It’s just breathtaking! My husband is born and raised in Toronto but I haven’t lived in Canada yet (we met when we were both living in Shanghai). I’m going to Canada once a year to visit family and I love it. I can’t wait to live there and take my time to visit the country. However my hubby is not enchanted to the idea of shovelling the snow again :) I never experienced winter in Canada, it sounds a bit extreme from what I’ve heard! For someone who grew up in south of France with no snow during winter, I’m not sure I will enjoy it ahaha

Thank you Alex! I’m using a Canon T5i with f/1.8. An ordinary setup but I’m quite happy with the results!
