Double Up

This black topcoat of mine is probably the most worn piece of outerwear that I own. I got it on sale from Express in Calgary three years ago and I’ve worn it so much that some of its inner lining is coming apart. I’ve paired this topcoat in a variety of ways – over a suit, a tee, or a plaid flannel. Here I experimented with something new by pairing wearing it over top of a buttoned-up denim jacket. Double the outerwear, double the warmth, and double the cool factor (hopefully).

Unending Winter

It seems that winter is just not going away in Hong Kong. It’s mid-March and I still find myself shivering every morning when I wake up. It’s a bit embarrassing how afraid of the cold I am, considering that I did grow up in Canada. But there’s a little something called ‘indoor heating’ that I really miss from back at home. Let’s hope that Spring is on its way here soon!

When it comes to fashion, it’s always nice to get lots of bang for your buck. That’s definitely the case for this varsity jacket that I bought from Forever 21 in Las Vegas a couple years ago. I think it just cost me $70 but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn it. Despite being a wool blend, it has aged very well and hasn’t pilled at all. Here in these photos I’m wearing the jacket on a gloomy day in Taipei.

Chinese New Year

Kung Hei Fat Choy! Happy Year of the Monkey to you all! This was my second Chinese New Years in Hong Kong and I’m enjoying it more and more this year as I get the hang of all the traditions. I highly appreciate this holidays’ positive atmosphere, festivities, and of course…the red pockets. For those of you who also celebrate the Lunar New Year, I hope you had a fantastic time as well!
